SUMMARY:GRANT-QLD - Health and Wellbeing Community Grants
DESCRIPTION:Supports community-led projects that improve health and wellbeing in communities across the state\, focusing on nutrition\, physical activity\, sleep\, wellbeing\, and/or health equity. \n\n\nThe objectives of the Health and Wellbeing Community Grants are to:\n– Increase knowledge of nutrition and empower people and communities to increase consumption of vegetables and fruits\, and support people to maintain a healthy weight to meet recommendations in the Australian Dietary Guidelines (2013) and Infant Feeding Guidelines (2012)\n– Improve opportunities and access to increase levels of physical activity and support people to maintain a healthy weight to meet the relevant national Physical activity and exercise guidelines for their age group\n– Promote better sleep to increase the proportion of Queenslanders meeting the sleep and sedentary recreational screentime recommendations in the Physical activity and exercise guidelines and the Australian Sleep Health Foundation recommendations\n– Facilitate projects and activities to support wellbeing\, including emotional\, social\, psychological\, mental\, spiritual and cultural wellbeing\, and create community connectedness to align with the Queensland Children’s Wellbeing Framework and HWQld’s Wellbeing Approach\n– Facilitate improved access to health services and resources when and where Queenslanders need them\, with a focus on promoting health equity. \nYou are strongly encouraged to consider at-risk priority populations when developing your application. These may include\, but are not limited to:\n– Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples\n– People experiencing social or economic disadvantage\n– People living with disability\n– People from culturally\, linguistically and/or spiritually diverse backgrounds\, including recent migrants and refugees\n– People who identify as LGBTQIA+\n– People living in rural areas of Queensland\n– People living in remote regions of Queensland. \nEligible expenses\n– Non-recurrent staff salaries\, wages and on-costs that can be directly attributed to the provision of the project (i.e. are not considered business-as-usual)\n– Training for paid and unpaid staff\, including committee members and volunteers\, that is relevant\, appropriate and in line with the grant program objectives\n– Operating and administration expenses directly related to the project (must be project-specific and not part of business-as-usual expenses)\n– Project-specific costs or activities\n– Participant food and non-alcoholic-/non-sugar sweetened beverages for community engagement activities\n– Awards/trophies (cannot be alcohol\, fast food vouchers or unhealthy foods such as chocolates)\n– Guest speaker fees\, travel (within Australia only) and accommodation\n– Consultant and contractor fees directly related to the project\n– Equipment and materials directly related to the project\n– Staff travel and transport assistance for project attendees (to reduce barriers)\n– Evaluation of the funded project and/or to explore options for future sustainability and ongoing viability \nEligible applicants\n– A not-for-profit or charitable organisation (as defined by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission)\n– An incorporated association that is either based in Queensland or has a branch in Queensland\n– An Indigenous Corporation (registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations)\n– A Queensland local government authority\n– State and independent schools\n– A Queensland State School Parent and Citizens’ Association (P&C) or a non-state school Parents and Friends Association (P&F).
