UNSW are seeking an engaging, student-focused and proactive Careers and Employability Advisor to help shape the future of careers education and employability support at UNSW College. About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Student Success, this role will play a key part in designing and delivering employability initiatives that support students in developing the confidence, skills, and professional readiness needed to succeed in today’s workforce.
You will work closely with students through one-on-one coaching, workshops, and tailored employability initiatives, while collaborating across Academic, Applied Program, and Student Support teams to enhance the student experience and strengthen employment pathways.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about student success, strengths-based coaching, and supporting culturally diverse student cohorts – particularly international students navigating the Australian employment landscape for the first time.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging career coaching and employability support to students through consultations, workshops, and group sessions
- Design and facilitate employability and professional skills programs aligned to contemporary workforce needs
- Support students with resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and workplace readiness
- Develop high-quality employability resources, guides, and online content
- Collaborate with Academic, Student Success, and Applied Program teams to embed employability initiatives into the student experience
- Collect and analyse student engagement and employment outcome data to support continuous improvement
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external industry partners
- Contribute to initiatives supporting Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and employment pathway opportunities
About You
You are a collaborative and student-centric professional who thrives in a people-focused environment. You bring strong interpersonal capability, initiative, and a genuine passion for supporting students to achieve their goals.
You will ideally demonstrate:
- Experience in careers, employability, recruitment, student success, coaching, or related advisory services
- Experience designing or delivering workshops, training sessions, or employability initiatives
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A strengths-based and consultative approach to student engagement
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Cultural awareness and experience supporting international or diverse student cohorts
- Confidence engaging with students in one-on-one and group settings
- Experience within higher education, student services, recruitment, or employability programs will be highly regarded.
