The Opportunity
UQU’s Schonell Catering & Events team is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Catering Duty Supervisor to support the delivery of high-quality catering services, functions, and events.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys balancing operational coordination with team leadership and customer service excellence.
This is a permanent part-time position with guaranteed minimum 20 hours per week, with additional hours available up to 38 hours per week during peak periods.
About the Role
Reporting to the relevant supervisor/manager, responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and overseeing catering operations, events, and function delivery from setup through to pack-down
- Supervising and supporting team members to ensure service standards and SOPs are consistently met
- Delivering exceptional customer experiences and maintaining professional client relationships
- Assisting with staff training, day-to-day operational leadership, and team performance support
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock control and ordering processes
- Supporting cost control and adherence to operational budgets
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, presentation, and workplace cleanliness
- Ensuring compliance with WHS requirements and safe work practices

You’re an organised and proactive hospitality professional who enjoys leading by example and creating great customer experiences. You remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and can confidently manage competing priorities in a busy operational environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience within hospitality, catering, events, or food service environments
- Experience coordinating teams, training staff, and supporting rostering and operational planning
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, WHS, and manual handling requirements
- Experience managing stock control and supporting cost management initiatives
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (highly desirable)
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
- Current Driver’s License
