ECU Student Guild
The Edith Cowan University Student Guild is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the role of Guild Advisory Officer. This position provides advocacy and support services to ECU students across academic, financial, and welfare matters on a fixed-term contract for one year, with the potential for permanency after the term. The role is part-time (3 days per week: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) and supports students at all ECU campuses.

The Edith Cowan University (ECU) Student Guild is a not for profit organisation and peak representative body for all ECU Students. Guild Advisory Services are integral to providing core advocacy and support to students, on behalf of the Guild, covering a wide range of services.
ECU Student Guild are looking for a passionate, dynamic individual to join their Joondalup and ECU City based team as a Guild Advisory Officer. There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to the Bunbury campus. Guild Advisory Officers are rostered between Joondalup and City Campuses to ensure consistent support to students.
ECU Student Guild are searching for an applicant with comprehensive demonstrated experience in a similar advocacy support role, who is professional and passionate about helping people, and who is also administratively competent, and thorough. The ability to record accurate and detailed case notes in a timely manner is essential to this role.
This is a dynamic and, at times, fast paced role where you will be assisting students via a set appointment schedule, with varied academic appeal processes to directly liaise with Schools and Departments of the University; as well as other varied personal student support needs.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Qualifications
- Completion of a degree in a relevant human/community services discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education /training.
Essential
- Demonstrated experience delivering advocacy services in a multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in dealing with others sensitivities and confidentiality through developing and maintaining professional support based relationships.
- Demonstrated practical expertise interpreting and applying relevant policy, rules, procedures and guidelines.
- Well-developed verbal and written skills and ability to effectively adjust communication and listening styles to interact clearly and concisely at all levels across a diverse client base and professional contacts.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a dynamic customer service environment.
- Proven time management and organisational skills and ability to manage a high volume of tasks and competing priorities in a structured manner to ensure timeline adherence.
- Ability to research, evaluate and submit continuous process improvement initiatives to align with changes in related services best practices.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in using the MS Office Suite particularly – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Experience in using the Clinical Management System, Cliniko
Other Position Requirements
- Current C class driver’s license
- Able to attend the Guild’s offices at Joondalup, ECU City and Bunbury campuses to ensure consistent Guild business continuity.
- National Volunteer Police Certificate or agreement to make an application for such.
