UQ Union are looking for an energetic and experienced Retail Supervisor to lead and oversee UQU’s Lolly Shop at the UQ St. Lucia campus! The Lolly Shop is UQU’s go-to destination for all things sweet and delicious! They sell a variety of confectionery, drinks, and snacks, and play an important role in keeping students and staff fueled with their sugar kick. Because of this, they see a high volume of customers, particularly during university teaching periods.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing hands-on leadership, supervision, and support to the Lolly Shop team.

Please note: Internally, this positions title is Outlet Supervisor and is classified as a manager-level role within our Enterprise Agreement. 

This role involves;

• Planning, preparing, and monitoring rosters to meet organisational needs

• Ensuring the Lolly Shop is professionally maintained – internally and externally

• Maintaining up-to-date product knowledge and identifying popular and trending products

• Compiling and implementing store specials and promotions

• Assisting the Area Manager with the price changes, budget preparation, and ensuring the outlet operates within set budgets

• Planning and conducting the monthly stock-take

• Stock ordering, rotation, and control

• Adhering to stores’ GP%

• Ensuring the UQU policies and procedures are being followed

In addition to the above, their ideal candidate will have: 

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a retail supervisor (experience in a news agency or convenience store is highly regarded)

• Demonstrated ability in:

• Recruiting, training, and mentoring staff

• POS systems (SwiftPOS experience highly regarded)

• Managing GP% and pricing

• Working with, and adhering to, set budgets and key targets each year.
