About the role
Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild are on the hunt for a Social Media Coordinator to lead the digital voice of the GUGC Student Guild, the independent, not-for-profit association supporting more than 17,000 students at Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus.
This is a full-time, 12-month maximum term role where you’ll own their social media from end to end. You’ll plan, create and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok, manage their online community, and lead the launch of their TikTok channel. You’ll also coordinate the Student Ambassadors program to keep content authentic and student-led. Success looks like a growing, engaged following, a steady stream of fresh content, and a Guild presence that students actually want to follow.
You’ll report to the Marketing Manager and work alongside the Communications Coordinator and Graphic Designer, plus teams and commercial venues across the Guild. It’s a creative, fast-moving role with real ownership and real impact on student life.
What you’ll do
• Plan, create, schedule and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and emerging platforms
• Lead the launch and growth of the Guild’s TikTok channel
• Manage our online community, responding to comments, DMs and student enquiries in a timely, on-brand way
• Capture and edit photo and video content, and brief our Graphic Designer on creative assets
• Coordinate the Student Ambassadors program, supporting recruitment, onboarding and day-to-day content guidance
• Support departments and commercial venues across the Guild with their social media activity
• Track performance, report on results, and use insights and emerging trends to keep our content sharp
What they’re looking for
• A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience managing social media channels for an organisation or brand
• Proven ability to create content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok (or other short-form video)
• Experience producing and editing photo and/or video content for social media
• Strong, engaging writing and a good feel for adapting brand voice across platforms and audiences
• Confidence reading social media analytics and using data to shape content
Bonus points for experience in a student, university or not-for-profit setting, managing multiple accounts, using scheduling tools, running paid social campaigns, launching a channel from scratch, or coordinating an ambassador or creator program.
