This position is based primarily at the Sippy Downs campus, but may involve occasional travel to other Queensland-based campuses.

The position is flexible hours for the right candidate(s) – between 3 and 5 days per week – and remunerated at Level 6.1 of the Higher Education Industry General Staff Award, which can be found at the following link:  (http://awardviewer.fwo.gov.au/award/show/MA000007)

The start date for this position is flexible – they’d love to have you on board by the end of January 2026.

What the day-to-day looks like:

1.      Support (clubs) – Providing administrative support and mentorship to emerging and established clubs, including completing risk assessments, room bookings, group mediation and funding requests.

2.      Support (student reps) – Providing administrative support and mentorship to students on the Student Guild Board and Student Representative Council, including delivering governance training, providing secretarial support, and seeking out professional development opportunities.

3.      Events – Organising and delivering collaborative, student-led events in partnership with student clubs and student representative cohorts.

4.      Engagement – Daily engagement with students in our Student Lounge and at student-led events.

5.      Relationships – Building connections with local community organisations, grant providers and University stakeholders.

6.      Connection – Connecting students with external support services – mentorship programs, leadership opportunities, scholarships and funding opportunities.  Ensuring that genuine student voice is considered and amplified throughout the University.

There may be some evening and weekend work required in this role, for which overtime rates apply.

Are you a good match?

They are looking for someone who is a great fit for the team and organisation. Flexibility, innovation and a desire to connect with students is a must. If you have a tertiary qualification in social work, education, governance or community support or a related field, or equivalent experience – please let us know!

This role involves working with people from a variety of backgrounds – domestic students, international students, Guild staff, University staff, and making external community connections. You should be a people-person who thrives on connecting and helping others and understands the ethical considerations of working with vulnerable populations.

You should also have good communication skills (oral and written), an understanding of governance principles, and the physical capability to deliver on-site events of various sizes, including transporting equipment and manual handling.
