AusMusic T-Shirt Day is all about showing love for Australian musicians and supporting the incredible work of Support Act - the music industry charity providing crisis relief, mental health support, and wellbeing services for artists, managers, crew, and music workers.

This year, it’s happening on Thursday 27 November, and we’re inviting all SENCON delegates to join in by wearing merch from your favourite Australian artist or band!

We’ll also have a collection point at the SENCON Registration Desk where you can make a donation to Support Act. Every contribution helps keep their vital programs running, from the Support Act Wellbeing Helpline to First Nations support initiatives.

Stuck on what to wear? Check out some of our past winners of the National Campus Music Competition that have gone on to make it big! https://campusmusic.com.au/history/

Not attending SENCON? You can still get involved! Show off your favourite Aussie music tee and donate online here: https://ausmusictshirtday.org.au/student-experience-network

We’re so happy to have Associate Professor Vince Kelly (QUT) in the SENCON 2025 lineup!

In his session The Belief Effect: The Amazing Power of Belief and Its Application in Student Experience and Work, Vince explores how language, communication, and environment design can influence student motivation, wellbeing, and performance. Drawing on cutting-edge research from sport and health psychology, he reveals how belief itself can activate real physiological responses that drive engagement, confidence, and recovery.

With over 20 years’ experience in elite sport and more than 90 research publications, Vince bridges the gap between science and practice - showing how student experience professionals can harness the “belief effect” to create exceptional student experiences and measurable outcomes.

To find out more about Vince's session, see the program here: https://studentexperiencenetwork.com.au/sencon/program/the-belief-effect-the-amazing-power-of-belief-and-its-application-in-student-experience-and-work/

ANUSA - ANU Students' Association – Guilty by Absence
ANUSA Legal Service tackled a systemic issue at ANU where students unknowingly received criminal convictions for unpaid parking fines due to outdated postal addresses. ANUSA monitored court listings, contacted affected students, and sought adjournments so fines could be paid, preventing convictions. Media coverage pressured ANU to change processes—fines are now emailed. 74 students were supported and ANUSA continues to support awareness of student rights, fairness, and legal support on campus.

Deakin University Student Association – Extension & Special Consideration Awareness
DUSA addressed confusion around extensions and special consideration. Using “Patch” the bear across on-campus activations, social media, email, and a webpage, the campaign delivered clear, engaging information. Games, giveaways, and direct advocacy reached 27,000+ digital users and hundreds in person, boosting confidence, proactive help-seeking, and understanding of academic support.

QUT Guild – It’s Not Just About Numbers
QUT Guild strengthened student advocacy and support. Structured events, a new case note system, marketing, and internal feedback mechanisms enhanced connections and outcomes. Student success rose from 79% to 92%, with satisfaction above 95%, reflecting more personalised, effective support for students navigating academic and personal challenges.

Tasmanian University Student Association - TUSA – Pathways to Permanent Residency
TUSA helped international students understand post-graduate visas and pathways to permanent residency following changes to migration policy. Sessions in Hobart and Launceston combined expert presentations and live Q&A, reaching 300+ students. The initiative increased confidence, referrals to migration clinics, and strengthened partnerships, empowering students to plan their futures with clarity.

𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐒𝐩 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭!

We’re thrilled to announce Professor Jason M. Lodge from The University of Queensland as a speaker at SENCON 2025!

In his session From Policing to Pedagogy: Students and Learning in the Age of AI, Jason tackles one of the biggest challenges in higher education today, the complex integration of AI into learning. He explores how institutions can move beyond a focus on cheating and flawed detection tools to instead empower students as co-designers in the learning process.

Drawing on insights from the forthcoming Australian Framework for Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, this session will unpack how to balance efficiency with critical skill development, address algorithmic bias, and safeguard student data, all while keeping student experience at the centre.

Jason is a Professor of Educational Psychology, PFHEA, and Director of the Learning, Instruction, and Technology Lab at UQ. His research examines how cognitive and emotional processes shape learning with digital technologies. As an expert advisor to the Australian Government and the OECD, he’s helping guide the future of AI and education - ensuring technology supports learning, equity, and student success.
