About the role:
As the Guild Advisory Service Coordinator at Edith Cowan University (ECU) Student Guild, you will play a pivotal role in supervising the Guild Advisory Service. You will lead a team of Guild Advisory Officers to provide essential advocacy and support services to ECU Student Guild member students. Your responsibilities will include developing stakeholder relationships, participating in strategic development, and ensuring the well-being of students while upholding university policies and rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Guild Advisory Service team
- Participate in strategic development and prepare department reports
- Develop policies, procedures, and promotional materials
- Establish strong collaborative networks with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide financial oversight and support to students engaging with the Guild Advisory Service
- Conduct training for Guild Senators and offer appointment support to students
- Support the department by meeting with students as needed to provide additional appointment support, including attending appeals and grievances and providing advice, guidance and referral in respect to academic and welfare matters.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in a human/community services or advocacy based discipline and broad relevant experience of supervising employees who have working in human/community services or; an equivalent combination of relevant experience, and/or education and training.
Essential
- Demonstrated experience supervising employees in an advocacy or human/community services environment.
- Demonstrated experience liaising and developing relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience delivering advocacy services in a multi-cultural environment.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in dealing with others sensitivities and confidentiality through developing and maintaining professional support based relationships.
- Knowledge of relevant policies and regulations in higher education.
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to student well-being.
- Well-developed verbal and written skills and ability to effectively adjust communication and listening styles to interact clearly and concisely at all levels across a diverse client base and professional contacts.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a dynamic customer service environment.
- Proven time management and organisational skills and ability to manage a high volume of tasks and competing priorities in a structured manner to ensure timeline adherence.
- Ability to research, evaluate and submit continuous process improvement initiatives to align with changes in related services best practices.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in using the MS Office Suite particularly – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Experience in advocating for individuals whether in a higher education setting or other similar environment.
- Current C class driver’s licence.
- Ability to attend the Guild’s other Campus locations at Mount Lawley, ECU City and Bunbury as required
