About the Role

This ‘all-rounder’ Human Resources generalist position combines a wide range of HR and OHS elements that make the role equally unique and exciting. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of HR operations for 30 + permanent staff and 15+ student casuals. They provide HR advice and support to RUSU Management and undertake the administrative, compliance and logistical tasks related to the employee life cycle including recruitment and onboarding.

They work with management to ensure that HR and OHS organisational processes are followed within the constraints of relevant legislation, RUSU policies, procedures and the Enterprise Agreement. They contribute to the ongoing review and development of HR & OHS related policies and procedures and assist with leave approvals, probationary reviews, performance and other HR processes.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

  • Applicants MUST have at least three years (FTE) prior work experience as a HR Generalist preferably within the NFP/community/education sector.
  • Strong HR Support and Advisory Skills: Experience providing advice on HR policies, leave, performance management and grievances, with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and policies (e.g., Enterprise Agreements, Fair Work Act).
  • OHS: Sound knowledge of the OHS Act and practical experience with OHS policies, procedures and compliance
  • Proficiency in Recruitment and Onboarding: Demonstrated ability to handle end-to-end recruitment, induction and onboarding processes.
  • People Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including; diplomacy, confidentiality, relationship building and stakeholder management.
  • Administrative Skills: Exceptional HR administrative and organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
