About the role:

The Sport Coordinator is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of student sport programs and activities. The Sport Coordinator is responsible for the Sport department that offers students a broad range of opportunities to participate in various sporting activities, catering to all levels of interest. By offering a well-rounded selection of programs, from social to competitive sports, this role ensures that every student has the opportunity to participate in activities that enrich their university life, help them stay active and support healthy movement.

Specific initiatives and services are subject to change with student and organisational demands however they currently involve the coordination of social sport competitions, intervarsity competitions, UniSport Nationals, on campus events, court hire and sporting facilities management, as well as supporting sporting student clubs.

Selection criteria

Essential:

  1. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field
  2. Minimum 1-3 years experience working in a similar role
  3. Experience managing and developing sport competitions across a variety of levels and formats.
  4. Strong stakeholder management experience and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals, including culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage teams and employees
  6. Demonstrated sound judgement, a pro-active nature and exceptional problem-solving skills which lead to a hands-on approach for events.
  7. Demonstrated strong organisational skills, time management skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to respond efficiently to competing demands.

Desirable:

  1. Experience working within the Higher Education Sector and an understanding of campus life relevant to students.
  2. People management and leadership experience.
  3. Demonstrated experience engaging young people aged 18-25.

About Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild:

The Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) Student Guild is an independent student association servicing all students currently enrolled at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. The Guild works closely with Griffith University and other key stakeholders to support the diverse community of approximately 16,000 students.

The Guild has three divisions: Student Services, Business Services, and Commercial Services led by the General Manager reporting to a Board of elected student representatives. Under the direction of the Board, the Guild’s purpose is to provide students with positive, relevant, and valued services that support them to achieve success in all aspects of their student life.
