SESSION OVERVIEW
BELONG is usually framed around the student experience, but student experience teams themselves are some of the highest-turnover, highest-burnout teams on campus. This workshop turns the lens inward.
Drawing on Simple Nimble’s organisational diagnostic work across the higher education sector, this session highlights four determinants of belonging: role clarity and connection to purpose, role autonomy and workplace rhythms and rituals (meetings, check-ins, how wins get acknowledged).
Working in small groups, delegates will run a quick assessment of their own team against these four areas, surfacing where things are working well and where the cracks are starting to show. This is a genuinely hands-on session: each delegate leaves with a personal snapshot of their team’s strengths and risk areas, and a set of conversation starters to take back to their leadership team.
Delegates will leave with:
- A simple lens for spotting whether their own team has the conditions for belonging, not just their students
- A personal snapshot of where their team is thriving, and where it’s at risk of burnout or disengagement
- One practical idea for growing belonging, that anyone can implement in their team today
