SESSION OVERVIEW

Most Universities now have food pantries, free meals and other food relief programs. With demand continually rising, how do we ensure the sustainability of these programs with limited funding and resources?

This session will first hear from the team at UCX who recently reevaluated their offering to use funding more effectively and better support the students who need it most. Spoiler alert: their numbers actually decreased, and they’re prouder of the program than ever.

Then, we’ll workshop common food insecurity problems and develop practical solutions to help each other with this wicked problem.

Session Outcomes:

Key takeaways from the session will be:
• Tools to evaluate a pantry and whether it still aligns with its purpose.
• Practical solutions to help the financial sustainability of a food pantry (amongst other issues).
• Ideas to improve your own food relief programs.

PRESENTERS

Sarah Jennett is the CEO of UCX.

Eloise Millington is Team Leader – Student Experience at UCX.
