The Session will showcase the Finalists of the Best Clubs & Societies Initiative in the 2025 Student Experience Network Awards.
ActivateUTS – Project Grant Pitch Night
This event transformed a paper-based grant system into a Shark Tank-style pitch night. From 70+ proposals, finalists presented to Student Board Directors and senior staff, supported by one-page summaries. The panel offered feedback and tailored funding, aligning projects with student benefit. Clubs then worked with advisors and completed reflection reports, creating a transparent process that built accountability, professional skills, and stronger student voice.
Arc@UNSW – HobbyCon 2025
HobbyCon welcomed 3,000 students to celebrate hobby and special interest clubs through gaming, art, and performance. With 30 clubs, 30 artists, esports, VR, and cosplay, it gave niche communities major exposure. A highlight was the first Artist Alley, where students showcased and sold their work for free, removing barriers faced at commercial expos. Co-designed with students via Discord and consultations, HobbyCon created an inclusive platform that fostered belonging and confidence.
Monash Student Association – Clubs & Societies Support Network
Launched in 2024, this program paired each of Monash’s 100+ clubs with a C&S Executive mentor. Clubs gained proactive guidance on compliance, governance, and events, while staff workload was reduced and compliance improved. First-time office bearers received early support, and Executives developed meaningful leadership portfolios. The result: better-run clubs and a more connected community.
UOW Pulse – UniClubs Exec Enrichment Program
Club executives drive student life, often with limited training or support. To better equip them, UOW Pulse created a suite of three initiatives targeting role clarity, community, and wellbeing.
Exec Academy replaced a dense 5-hour training with an immersive, day-long program. Role-specific modules and keynote sessions give leaders practical skills and confidence to manage compliance, events, and succession.
Exec Arcade redefined networking by using games and challenges to foster authentic peer connections and collaboration across clubs.
Exec & Chill addressed burnout by offering relaxed, creative activities in a pressure-free space, reminding execs that rest is part of leadership too.
Together, these initiatives transformed support for club leaders, helping them grow personally, professionally, and as a community.
