SESSION OVERVIEW
Too often, student engagement success is judged by “vanity metrics” like membership growth, but numbers alone don’t show real impact. This session explores how ActivateUTS is shifting from quantity to quality, using data to measure engagement depth, event impact, and student wellbeing. Learn practical strategies to design metrics that reflect the true value of student involvement and guide more meaningful support for clubs. Additionally the use of data doesn’t need to be an expensive chore, lets start small and drive impact!
Session Outcomes
Move Beyond Vanity Metrics — Learn why membership growth or an increase in volunteer numbers alone doesn’t tell the whole story.
Measure What Matters — Discover alternative metrics that reflect genuine engagement, impact, and wellbeing.
Start Small, Think Big — See how low-cost, practical data collection can create real change.
