About The Role

If you are a passionate about improving the university experience and welfare of students, this could be the role for you! The Griffith University Student Guild is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join the Student Services team as the Student Welfare Coordinator. The Student Welfare Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of critical welfare services aimed at addressing students’ basic needs, food security, and cost-of-living support, including but not limited to free groceries, second-hand clothing, free meals on campus and free sanitary products.

Key selection criteria

Essential:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a recognised tertiary institution and a strong understanding of the tertiary education system, including student welfare services.
  • At least one year of industry experience in student support, event planning, or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to analyse trends, think strategically, and implement effective service delivery plans and support programs on campus.
  • Demonstrated strong organisational and time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage competing demands effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals, including culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated strong organisational skills, time management skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to respond efficiently to competing demands.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within the higher education sector and an understanding of extracurricular services in that context.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging young people aged 18–25.
  • Experience in people management and leadership.

About Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild

The Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) Student Guild is an independent not-for-profit student association servicing all students enrolled at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. The Guild works closely with Griffith University and other key stakeholders to support the diverse community of approximately 18,000 students.

The Guild’s purpose is to provide students with positive, relevant, and valued services that support them to achieve success in all aspects of their student life.
