Board Inductions For Not-for-profits: Setting Your Group up for Success

October 10, 2024 | General

SESSION OVERVIEW

Whether you’re new to or new to working with the board of your group or you’ve been doing it for a while, there’s always more to learn. What is the role of a board member, and what are your key legal responsibilities? When are you personally responsible if things go wrong and what protections are available?
In this session, a lawyer from Justice Connect’s Not-for-profit Law program will help answer these questions in plain language and give you concrete actions for improving your board inductions and ensuring good governance. They’ll cover:
  • Why a board induction is so important, and who is responsible for it?
  • What should happen before appointment of a new board member?
  • What should be covered in a board induction?
  • Checklists for what to think about at each step
  • Information on further resources and support
