Creating a Food Hub – Addressing Student Food Security – Panel
SESSION OVERVIEW: The cost of living crisis has hit students hard, especially International or HRD students with limited ability to work to support themselves, due to stricter Visa requirements. According to the latest USYD SSAF research, affordable food and support for student health & wellbeing are the top two funding priorities for students.
Facilitated by Andrew Mills from University of Sydney Union, this panel discussion will include member organisations who have established a Food Hub (pantry) and/or other food security initiatives for students.
The panel will consist of representatives from:
- University of Sydney Union
- University of Queensland Union
- Arc @ UNSW
- University of Newcastle Students’ Association
- QUT Guild
- Western Sydney University
- UOW Pulse
This session aims to provide practical and actionable insights on how to identify the need, develop and implement a range of successful support programs to address food insecurity. It will provide useful tips in setting up a new support service, including how to leverage community partners and supports.
