SESSION OVERVIEW

Join representatives from Foodbank, OzHarvest, and SecondBite/FareShare for an insightful panel discussion on food relief programs and their impact within communities. This session will explore how these leading organisations address food insecurity, reduce food waste, and provide essential support to those in need. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how these programs operate, the partnerships that make them successful, and how universities and student organizations can get involved. Learn about the challenges, innovations, and opportunities in food relief, and discover how your organisation can contribute to meaningful change.

Panel Members

Deidre Boaz – Community Development Manager – Foodbank Victoria

Deidre has worked in the community development and education space for 20 years across multiple organisations and areas. Deidre has been at Foodbank Victoria for four years and oversees the Neighbourhood Assessments and Community Food Plans with the State Network Team. Deidre sits on multiple networks and working groups linking external partnerships and project development into Foodbanks daily operations. Deidre brings a broad knowledge of the community sector to her role at Foodbank developing the first Annual ‘Feed it Forward’ charity partner survey in 2024. 

Alana Roberts – Vic Engagement Manager – Ozharvest

Alana has worked at OzHarvest for over three years.  She was drawn to OzHarvest as she wanted to find a role with purpose.  Having experience across South Australia and Victoria, Alana manages communication, fundraising and partnerships to ensure less food gets wasted and less Australians are hungry.
