Gender-based Violence Code 101
Join us for an interactive online workshop designed to help SEN members understand the new National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence, introduced to Parliament on February 6, 2025.

This session will provide valuable insights into gender-based violence and equip you to support students more effectively while contributing positively to your institution’s compliance with the new legislation.
Led by the lead drafter of the National Code from the Department of Education, Dr Renee Hamilton, who brings 20 years of experience in national gender-based violence policy, prevention, response, and advocacy — including work within the university sector — this workshop is an opportunity to deepen your understanding and make a meaningful impact.
This session will mark the start of an ongoing strategic relationship with SEN and its members as we launch into deeper work on this topic.

Renee is a national leader in addressing gender-based violence with a proven track record driving significant reform both within and outside government. She has over 20 years of experience in gender-based violence policy, prevention, response and advocacy and specialises in addressing gender-based violence in higher education.
Renee has worked with and advised senior leaders across higher education, governments and industry on strategies to prevent gender-based violence and improve support for victim-survivors.
Format and Cost
The session will be offered as 90 minute Workshop:
DATE – Wednesday 7th May – 1:30pm – 3pm (AEST)
COST – $175 + GST per participant.
