Student Success Officer (Orientation & Transition) – Southern Cross University
About The Role
The Student Support Officer (Orientation & Transition) plays a key role in creating positive, memorable first impressions for new students and helping them successfully transition into university life.
Working closely with the Student Support Coordinator (Orientation), you’ll help plan and deliver engaging orientation and transition events that build student connection and belonging – all with the goal of enhancing the student experience and improving retention.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the recruitment, training and supervision of student leaders to deliver vibrant student-led events and activities.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate student communications, including social media, emails and promotional content for orientation and transition programs.
- Gathering and analysing feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
About you
You’re a confident communicator with a natural ability to connect with students and build strong relationships across diverse teams. Your time management and organisational skills mean you thrive in busy environments, juggling competing priorities and keeping things running smoothly. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in a student-facing university setting, or an equivalent combination of experience, training and knowledge
- Strong administrative skills and experience using systems like CRM and the Microsoft Office suite.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality student support services.
