Student Wellbeing Advisor – ActivateUTS
About The Role
As a Student Wellbeing Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting student welfare, engagement, and success. You will provide guidance, resources, and early intervention support to enhance students’ overall wellbeing, including mental health support, crisis management, and referral services. Collaborating with academic and professional staff, you will ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
The role will act as a central point of contact for students. Coordinating referrals and connections to the various student support services on and off campus. Ensuring a seamless and effective care for our students.
Key Responsibilities
Wellbeing Program Strategy & Delivery
• Promote and support a safe and healthy environment for UTS students.
• Research and analyse student wellbeing projections to develop the ActivateUTS Wellbeing strategy to address future needs, using student analytics and data to evolve meaningful services and outcomes for UTS students.
• Provide direct support and guidance to students engaged in ActivateUTS Clubs and programs
• Develop, implement and execute wellbeing initiatives to empower students.
• Develop policies and training programs to assist with student leadership and interventions
• Support initiatives and liaise with students with and/or require additional learning needs.
• Work alongside the ActivateUTS Wellbeing program to deliver meaningful services and outcomes for students
• Support Manager with supervision of casual staff within the Wellbeing Program as and when required.
Student Wellbeing & Case Management
• Conduct one-on-one well-being consultations and provide appropriate referrals.
• Serve as the point of Gender Based Violence response and reporting.
• Act as central points of contact, coordinating services across various providers and social support systems to ensure seamless and effective care delivery.
• Initiate and handle student incidents case reports as they arise, working alongside the UTS Counselling Services and People & Culture to maintain reporting records and provide monthly reports on incident management
• Undertake comprehensive assessment of student incidents and provide appropriate outcomes and solutions and help set appropriate goals to support wellbeing.
• Monthly reporting of student incidents by the Program & Wellbeing team, support General Manager, Student Life & Sports with appropriate board reporting
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student support, working closely with UTS Counselling Services team.
About You
You’ll bring:
• A tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling, community services, or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in student wellbeing, including mental health first aid and crisis intervention strategies, with the ability to apply this expertise in a practical and supportive manner.
• Experience in handling case management, handling unique and complex issues as they arise
• Demonstrate initiative and proactive in supporting student wellbeing and implementing effective wellbeing programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in preparing reports, to analyse and review reports objectively, driving appropriate outcomes
• Can work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
