SESSION OVERVIEW

This session will explore the practical and strategic use of TikTok in the higher education sector, focusing on its potential to engage and connect with students in meaningful ways.

We will discuss how universities can leverage TikTok (and video in general) to enhance their visibility, foster community, and drive student engagement. The session will provide insights into content creation, scheduling, and community management, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities unique to this platform.

Additionally, we will address the role of AI in amplifying TikTok’s impact and discuss the ethical considerations related to data privacy and content authenticity.

Session Outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will:

– Understand how TikTok can be used as a strategic tool to reach and engage with students throughout their journey.

– Learn how to create, schedule, and manage content that resonates with students, including tips for utilising user-generated content and balancing organic and paid strategies.

– Identify the unique challenges of using TikTok in higher education, such as channel fit, scalability, and privacy concerns, and learn strategies to overcome them.

– Gain an understanding of how AI tools like ChatGPT can be integrated into your TikTok strategy to enhance content creation and engagement.
